Hip Opener for Runners & 30 Minute Run
3/4/2020
Hips Don't Lie! Come learn why tight hips can be a BIG issue for runners. We are excited to have Marianne Torres an experienced yoga teacher who enjoys long distance running teaching this class. She was introduced to yoga 20 years ago when training for her first Chicago marathon. Marianne teaches at Abhyaasa Yoga in Naperville and is currently training for the Naperville Women’s Half as well as the Chicago Marathon later this year. Hear from Marrianne: Hip tightness is a common issue for runners - from those who are beginners to the elite athletes. We use our hip flexor muscles with every stride, so they are naturally overworked and are the cause of common runner injuries and discomfort. Let’s pause and learn how to best stretch and lengthen these muscles before and after a run. We will learn basic warm up stretches that will prepare our hips and legs for work. Afterward (most importantly) we will take care of our hips with recovery and cool down poses. Happy hips = happy runner
